When God Speaks

"If you are passionate the Lord conspires to give you what you seek" - Sri AmmaBhagavan

The words of the Divine are all always Sacred and Precious. There are so many sacred books and scriptures containing the various revelations and teachings of various forms of Gods, Saints, Prophets, Sages, etc. All these are absolutely true and sacred in their original form. We get a lot of knowledge from these revelations.

Yet, in spite of the the availability of so much information and knowledge about God, we are always unsure of what we do/we should do. We do not know whether we take the right decision or not. We do not even know whether we are taking the decision that our God wants us to take. We do not know what God wants from us. This is the truth to most of us as on today. In this condition, all the knowledge derived from our scriptures seems useless to us for practical purpose. If only we have a live, talking God, in our hearts, how easily we can take the right decision! We will then have no conflicts or confusion! All our anxiety, worry, suffering and problems will be solved!

So just knowledge about God is not enough. We need to experience God and should be able to know what He thinks and hear His Voice. While all the knowledge in various scriptures are true of course, we need a guide within, to interpret this knowledge and teach us what to do at every step.

Bible defines Gods words as Logos and Rhemas. It is important for us to know about Logos and Rhemas. All the words of Gods, whereever He has spoken, are called Logos. So all the words of Gods in various scriptures are Logos. Now, what is Rhemas? Rhemas are specific words/expressions of God to a particular person at a particular time. Those words and expressions of God are meant only to that person and only at that particular time. It does not apply to others. It also does not apply to the same person at some other time. We shall see a few examples here.

Peter, had to cross a river. He prayed to Jesus for help. Jesus appeared before him and simply gave a command, 'Walk'. On hearing Jesus, Peter walked on the water of the river and reached the other bank alive, without drowning. At another point of time, Peter again needed to cross the river. He remembered Jesus telling him to cross the river on the previous occasion and tried to cross the river once again. But Peter, while crossing the river the second time, started drowning! Why? He did not drown the first time but drowned the second time. Why?

The reason is simple. The first time, Peter had the 'Rhemas' of Jesus to cross the river. Jesus spoke and told him to cross the river and Peter followed the specific words spoken for himself by Jesus at that time; he had the Rhemas of Jesus then. But, during the second time, Peter did not have the Rhemas (the personal words) of Jesus; he assumed the command and thought that Jesus would once again help him and crossed the river; hence, he got drowned.

Bhagavad Gita contains the Rhemas of Lord Krishna to Arjun. It is a classic example of Rhemas. Those Rhemas were meant for Arjun in those occasions! Since the scripture contains Lord Krishna's words, it is of course, very very sacred. But again, that was for Arjun, not for everyone to follow likewise. What we need is a Krishna to talk in our hearts as He spoke to Arjun. We need the guidance of Krishna with His Rhemas for us at every point of time in our lives! We should be very clear that Rhemas are very very personal.

As Amma and Bhagavan entered peoples' hearts, they started with their Rhemas to devotees and helped (and are helping) thousands across the world. The purpose of the Antaryamin Bhagavan is this only. The Antaryamin God (the God/Divine in our hearts) in any form or in a formless form can only give us the required 'Rhemas' for our lives. Again. we should remember that these Rhemas are meant only for that particular event or time.

Once, I had to do a satsangh outside and my presence was needed at home too. I asked Bhagavan what i should do. He simply told me to go and do the satsangh. Those were the Rhemas at that time. At some other time, the same situation came; my daughter had exams the next day and I had a satsangh to conduct again. This time, Bhagavan told me to stay back at home. If anyone came home to know about Bhagavan, Bhagavan wiould simply tell me to stop all work in the kitchen and go and do the satsangh. In the same situation, to my sister-in-law, the Lord would tell her to finish her kitchen work first. Such contradicting commands from Bhagavan brought a lot of confusion into our family because people did not understand that the Rhemas are very much personal and differed from person to person and from time to time and from situation to situation!

I would like to share my latest mistake that happened yesterday. At home, now-a-days, as 2012 is nearing, my mother, my husband and myself are chanting the moola mantra everyday (mostly in the mornings) 1008 times. To chant one thousand and eight times in the morning takes time. I did not want to chant while doing the kitchen work. I wanted to chant completely thinking of Amma and Bhagavan. So 2 days back, I sat before the Sri murti of amma Bhagavan and started chanting. In between Amma told me to go to the kitchen and do the work necessary while chanting. I told Amma that I could not do so because I could not concentrate on Her as well as do the chanting and work. So Amma said. "do not worry, I will come with you to the kitchen and keep on talking to you as you chant and work; that way, you will not lose concentration on me". Saying this, Amma came with me wherever i did work, talking to me all the time. I was chanting the mantra loudly while I listened to her too. At the same time, my limbs were doing the household work. The experience was so beautiful!

Now yesterday, I decided on my own that I would chant the mantra while continuing to do my work. I went to the bedroom (chanting the mantra) to fold clothes. I had just folded 2 clothes when I suddenly realised that my mind was floating elsewhere, other than on Bhagavan and Amma and my chanting had also stopped! I left my work then and there, rushed back and sat down before the Sri murti and started chanting. A few minutes later, Amma was laughing at my mistake! That was when I remembered reading about Logos and Rhemas so many years back. I realised that when I had the Rhemas of Amma to do something, I could concentrate on Her, Chant as well as work. Yesterday, I took my own decision to work while chanting, without the Rhemas and only failed! Soon Amma laughed and once again said She was coming with me to where I had work. After She said and did that, I could concentrate on Amma, chant as well as work.

I hope you all get the Rhemas of your God every now and then, mmm...NO.... ALWAYS... to help you! When you attend the various processes and do all the rituals like puja, havan, meditation, chanting, singing, etc., with emotion of love, gratitude, sacredness, etc., in your heart, these Rhemas come to you naturally and automatically. But what is important is, you should do all these things with emotion, sincerely and passionately, calling God into your heart. With Amma and Bhagavan as the most powerful avatars on this earth, it is very easy to get their Antaryamin in any form in your heart. Just try everything sincerely, if you have not got it still. If you already have an Antaryamin (of any God or Saint), let the Antaryamin be so powerful such that it is only the Antaryamin that works through your body and nothing else!

The Mahavakya of Sri Bhagavan:

"Formless as I am, the Antaryamin, shall awaken formless inside you or in the form you desire or the form I choose, or I shall manifest to you outside again in the form you desire or the form I choose; for every Form is My Form and I am your Supreme Friend, if only you would seek Me with your whole heart".
